President of Turkmenistan receives Gazprom CEO

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Vice Chairman of Board of Director, Chairman of Board of RF Gazprom Public Corporation Alexey Miller.
The President and his guest discussed the current issues of gas co-operation successfully maintained on the long-term mutually advantageous basis in the framework of the 25-year bilateral agreement. Reaffirming the steadfast adherence to the undertaken obligations the sides exchanged views on the opportunities of enhancing effective partnership in compliance with the top level agreements achieved during the RF President’s official visit to Turkmenistan.

The sides harmonized the views on the price for exported Turkmen natural gas, which would be set on the market principles and agreed to expand co-operation between Turkmenistan and the largest Russian gas company through constructing gas facilities. In particular, Gazprom was to finance and construct gas-transport and gas-field construction facilities in the territory of Turkmenistan on interest-free credit.
Focusing on the implementation of the projects on construction of the Caspian gas pipeline and modernization of the existing transnational gas-transport system the Turkmen President and the Gazprom high-ranking official stated the reciprocal willingness to accelerate the construction that met the interests of the participating countries. The agreement to increase the capacity of the Caspian gas pipelines to 30 billion cubic metres of ‘blue fuel’.
Touching upon the priorities of the strategy of developing Turkmenistan’s fuel and energy sector based on the principles of diversification of the sector, intensification of mutually advantageous co-operation and oriented to the state and tendencies of the world energy market Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that Russian Gazprom remained Turkmenistan’s leading strategic partner.
The guest reaffirmed the leading Russian company’s intense interest in strengthening and expanding the fruitful business contacts with Turkmenistan and willingness to increase purchases of Turkmen natural fuel.
Upon concluding the meeting Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Alexey Miller expressed belief that mutually advantageous co-operation would be fostered for the purposes of realizing its profound potential.
